Verona in Love: The Perfect Valentine's Day Trip

 

Located around 2 and a half hours away from Albergo Miramonti you’ll find Verona - the city of love. It’s so romantical that Shakespeare himself chose to set the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet in the ancient town. So, it comes as no surprise that it’s known to be one of the most romantic places in Italy. Valentine’s Day gives the perfect occasion for the city to bask in its romantic aura with a festival called ‘Verona in Love’. It’s the perfect way to celebrate with your loved one - so today, we thought we’d give you all the information you need on the festival.

WHAT IS ‘VERONA IN LOVE

“CELEBRATE BEING IN LOVE WITH LOVE”

Starting from the 12th until the 16th of February Verona will be illuminated with hundreds of heart-shaped lights - whilst they celebrate being in love with love! With a mix of poetry, music, guided tours and so much more - it’s the perfect place to take a loved on Valentine’s day. Visit Juliet’s house, the Old Market Courtyard and many other romantic monuments, as you relive the tragic love story of the star crossed lovers. There’s even an honour to sports with the Romeo and Juliet Half Marathon, closing the festival on the 16th of February.

FEstival activities

Over the few days that the festival takes place, there is an abundance of activities for you to partake in. Here’s what to expect:

Lights and Decorations

The whole of the city shall be lit-up and decorated in commemoration of love - even the Lamberti Tower, the tallest tower in the city shall be lit-up with red lights. Simply strolling through the city and taking in the sights will be enough to warm your heart.

Tours in Love

Wander around the city on a guided tour, discovering all the monuments dedicated to love that fills the city of Verona.

‘Seal of Love’

Receive a special parchment, sealed with wax - that capture the symbol of eternal love. This activity must be pre-booked on the Verona in Love Festival site.

Piazza dei Signori

In the town centre, you’ll find a market with stalls in a heart-shaped arrangement. Whether you want to give local delicacies a taste or purchase a gift for your partner - there’s plenty to discover.

Romeo AND Juliet Half Marathon

On the final day of the festival, there will be a half marathon throughout the city.
